Getting started
What is BrikTech?
BrikTech is a mobile-first job-management app for construction businesses. It keeps your jobs, tasks, schedule, client selections, shopping lists, costs, contracts and a live client portal all in one place — built for Australian builders and trades.
Do I need to install anything?
No. BrikTech runs in your phone or computer's web browser. It's a Progressive Web App, so you can tap Add to Home Screen and it opens like a normal app — and it works offline for a lot of things.
How do I start a free trial?
From the home page, pick a plan and tap Start free trial. Sign up with your business name and email, and you're in. You won't be charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel any time.
I forgot my password — what do I do?
On the sign-in screen tap Forgot password, enter your email, and we'll send you a reset link.
Jobs & tasks
How do I create a job?
Tap + New job on the dashboard, or Create new job in the action tray (the chevron handle above the bottom bar). You can import a Xero quote PDF, forward a quote to your company address, or enter it by hand — paste a scope and BrikTech suggests starter tasks. See the jobs how-to.
Where did the "+" button go?
It's now the action tray. Pull up the little chevron handle (⌃) above the bottom bar and you'll get tiles to add anything — Create new job, Add task, Add shopping, Scan receipt, Scan QR, Create invoice, Add note, Add photo, Add variation.
How do quotes work?
Open Quotes from the menu and Schedule a quote (it books a site visit on your scheduler). Capture the job on site, and BrikTech drafts an AI scope and a priced estimate. The client accepts online, and the quote becomes a job with its tasks and selections ready. See the quotes how-to.
Does a job complete automatically?
Yes. A job moves to Completed once all its tasks are done, and re-opens automatically if you add a new task. You can also archive jobs you no longer need.
How do I assign a task to someone?
Open the job's Tasks tab, add a task, then set its trade and assign it to a team member or trade contact. It appears in their My tasks list with the due date.
Can BrikTech create tasks for me?
Yes — paste a scope of works when creating a job, or use the AI assistant, and BrikTech suggests tasks. You always review and approve before anything is added.
What does flagging an issue do?
Flagging a task with an issue raises it to the builder with a note, so problems on site get seen and actioned instead of getting lost.
Scheduling
How do I schedule tasks?
Open the Scheduler and drag tasks from the Unscheduled list onto a day, or set a scheduled date on the task itself. Switch between calendar and Gantt views and filter by job, trade or status.
Can I sync with Google Calendar?
Two-way Google Calendar sync is rolling out and currently has limited availability while Google reviews our app. In the meantime the in-app Scheduler is the source of truth for your bookings.
Clients, selections & the portal
What is the client portal?
It's a live, client-friendly view of a job. Print the job's QR code on a site sign or send the link — your client scans it and sees a progress timeline, a Payments summary, and tabs for Overview, Photos, Selections and Variations. Viewing needs no login; to approve selections, message you, upload photos or accept a variation, the client signs in.
Can clients see my costs or margins?
No. The portal only shows client-facing information. Your costs, margins, supplier prices and internal tasks stay private to your team.
How do client selections work?
Add a selection to a job (or request one from the client). The client approves it or requests a change from their portal, against the allowance you set. You're notified and can reply with a revised price. See the selections how-to.
What's a variation?
A variation is a change to the agreed scope. Clients can request one from the portal; you review it and price it, and the client accepts the extra cost with an electronic signature — so the approval is recorded against the job.
Costs, financials & contracts
How do I record a cost or receipt?
Three ways: scan a receipt with your camera (BrikTech reads the supplier, date and amount), forward a supplier invoice email to your company's cost address, or text a receipt photo to Brix over WhatsApp/SMS. It lands in the To review card on Financials to assign to a job and confirm — and likely duplicates are flagged for you.
Can I send invoices? Do I need Xero?
You can create and send branded PDF invoices directly from BrikTech — including progress claims off a contract's payment stages — with no Xero required. If you do use Xero, connect it under Integrations and invoice and bill figures sync so your financials match your books.
Can I send a contract for signing?
Yes. On a job, BrikTech prepares the right NSW Small or Large jobs contract based on its value, you set a payment schedule (stages totalling 100%), and you sign first. Then send it — your client signs electronically via a secure link and you get the signed copy back with a full audit trail.
Are e-signatures legally valid?
Electronic signing is widely accepted for building contracts in Australia. BrikTech records who signed, when, and a tamper-evident copy of the signed document. For advice on your specific situation, check with your own legal adviser.
Team & access
How do I add my team?
Go to Settings & account → Team, tap Invite, and invite people by email or mobile. They get a link to set a password and join (you can resend, copy or revoke it).
What's the difference between the roles?
Company admin manages everything including billing, settings and financials. Company user is day-to-day staff — can run jobs and scan receipts, but can't see financials or cost amounts. Trade sees only the jobs and tasks they're assigned. Client sees only their own job's portal and is never assignable to tasks.
Someone scanned a job QR and asked for access — what now?
Access requests appear in your notifications and on the job. Approve to give them access (you can scope it to a trade) or decline.
Assistant & notifications
What can Brix (the AI assistant) do?
Ask it questions ("what's overdue?") or tell it to do things — add/complete/reschedule tasks, log notes, flag issues, update shopping, add a cost, set a contract value, create jobs and quotes. It knows which job you're on and always shows a confirm card before changing anything.
Can I use Brix by text message?
Yes — Brix works over WhatsApp and SMS. Once your mobile number is on your profile, text it from site to add a task, log a note, ask what's on today, or send a receipt photo (it becomes a cost in Financials → To review).
Will it change my data without asking?
No. Any action that writes data is shown to you as a confirm card first — nothing happens until you approve it, and there's an audit log of assistant actions.
Can I control which notifications I get?
Yes. Open Notification preferences (Settings & account → Account) to choose what you're alerted about — including a daily 6:30am briefing, optionally by SMS — and switch on push notifications to get alerts even when the app is closed.
Account & billing
How do I change my plan or payment card?
Open Billing and tap Manage billing to reach the secure Stripe portal, where you can change plan, update your card or download invoices.
What happens if my trial ends or a payment fails?
You'll be guided to fix billing before continuing to use the app. Your data is never deleted — it's waiting for you as soon as billing is sorted.
How do I update my own details?
Open Profile from the menu to change your name, email, phone, timezone and password. Setting your timezone keeps due dates and the scheduler accurate.
How do I cancel?
Cancel any time from the Stripe billing portal (Billing → Manage billing). You'll keep access until the end of your current period.
Where's my data stored?
BrikTech is built and hosted in Australia, with continuous backups. See our Privacy Policy for the details.
Troubleshooting
The app looks out of date or won't update.
BrikTech updates itself automatically, but if something looks stale, fully close and reopen the app, or pull-to-refresh. If you installed it to your home screen, reopening usually picks up the latest version.
A photo won't upload.
Check you're online — photos queue and upload when you have signal. BrikTech compresses photos automatically, so even large phone images go through quickly.
I can't see a job or feature I expected.
What you see depends on your role. Trades and clients see a focused view. If you think you should have more access, ask your company admin to check your role under Settings & account → Team.
The receipt scanner isn't reading my receipt.
Make sure the whole receipt is in frame, well lit and in focus. You can always edit any field by hand before confirming the cost.
